Infrared is EM radiation of longer wavelength (lower photon energy) than red light. A remarkable image of the central bulge of our edge-on galaxy can be made in the infrared because the longer wavelengths penetrate the dust and gas clouds better than visible light. ![]() http://zebu.uoregon.edu/~soper/ImMilkyWay/
