Table 1: initial velocities

The horizontal and vertical velocities were not consistent to better than ± 0.3 m/s on average. These inconsistencies are disappointing, and lead to large errors in the predicted ranges.

Sample calculation (angle of elevation)

tanq = 2.2/ 8.0 = 0.27 ... and ... q = 15°

The largest possible value of tanq is given by ...

tanq = (2.2+0.3)/(8.0-0.3) = 0.32

and ... q = 15 ± 3°
