Heating the water

Fig 3 - the water in the cans was heated on a hot plate to 40°C.

Note: The method wasa tedius and required some time. It may have been more efficient, more convenient and reduced errors to heat the water in a coffee dispenser so that water at 40°C couls be poured into each can.
