Standing (seiche) waves

Standing waves are formed when wave energy is repeatedly reflected between two boundaries. The tank contains kerosene (blue) over water. In this case the boundaries are open. Standing waves have antinodes at each end of the tank. The standing waves (called seiche waves) at both boundaries have the same frequency and different wavelengths.
