Half decays in unit time called the half-life.  Carbon-14 (14C) is produced in the atmosphere by cosmic ray bombardment of nitrogen nuclei. The 14C content in the atmosphere almost doubled in the northern hemisphere in the 1960's due to the testing of thermonuclear weapons in the atmosphere. 14C residue is used to date organic materials from buriel and other sites. |
