Smoke rings (beloved of pipe smokers) are spinning rings of air made visible by enclosed smoke. They are remarkably stable, lasting for many seconds.  Tiny vortex rings can be seen in water by running a stream of salt water, colored with dye, into fresh water from a syringe. |
