Transparent ice |
 A transparent material allows the passage of radiation without absorption (becoming hot). Ice is transparent in the visible and near infrared; a fire is being started with a biconvex ice lens. In a similar way a candle can be ignited inside a transparent plastic drink bottle with an external magnifying glass and sunlight. |
