The Solar wind

The Solar wind is a plasma stream that reaches the Earth from the Sun in from two to eight days, depending on the kinetic energy of the irregular ejections. This image shows the inner streamer belt along the Sun's equator (top and bottom), and a sun-grazing comet as it plunges to a firey end.

Over the polar regions, (left and right), the polar plumes stream to the edge of the field of view (4°).
