The original trans-varistor (transistor) 1947, consisted of two interacting point-contact diodes placed on the same side of a silicon (or germanium) wafer. A slightly more modern version (c.1960) is shown (top) with the symbol below. The point contact transistor symbol is used for all transistors, regardless of their construction. > More |
