Motion detectors

Motion detection using ultrasound echoes, and optical or magnetic location is now in common use by animators. Real-time location data from dozens of sensors worn on the body of a moving person are used to construct a moving image.

'Vernier' detectors (at ISB) emit 40 kHz ultrasound. The range is 0.6 to 6 meters with a 50 point per second maximum data rate. Differentiation of position data gives a single channel of velocity and acceleration information.
