Field

A field in mathematical physics is an abstract construction - lines in space to describe 'action at a distance'.

The head is charged - hair lies along electric field lines. The head is real. The hair is real. The forces are real. The field lines are abstract constructions in our own imagination - no more real than latitude lines and the equator.

A search for 'field' - 'field plot' - and for 'field lines' produces some odd distractions.
