Emissivity

Emissivity is a percentage of the net radiation intensity of a hot body per square cm compared to the emission from a perfect black body at the same temperature.

The emissivity of aluminium is around 30% and of human skin is about 98%. Emissivity is an important correction for surface temperature when using a digital pyrometer to measure temperature.
