Drag coefficients (related to the generation of turbulent flow) are a measure of relative air resistance (drag in water). Fish are slippery things: note the low drag coefficient. Note the drag on a bullet shape: less than the drag on a ball. Muskets fired lead balls. Modern rifles fire spinning bullets. Note the drag on a cone: the shape of an astronaut's re-entry capsule. Note the high drag on a flat plate: a building in a wind. |
