Center of gravity

The center of gravity is the point through which the weight of an object is said to act. In a uniform gravitational field (in this room) the center of gravity is in the same place as the center of mass.

The center of gravity can be found by suspending a body from two points and finding the point at which the verticals cross.

The center of gravity need not lie within a body. A high-wire walker who carries a long drooping pole may have a center of gravity that is below the wire.
